This past weekend For Sisters Only celebrated their 20th anniversary. I must admit this is my first time attending For Sisters Only (FSO) and I took everything in. Local radio station V103 sponsored the event. Here’s the breakdown…THE GOOD, THE BAD, & THE UGLY.
GOOD
1. MISS JESSIES
Ms. Jessie’s booth was fun and interactive. They gave away free product samples and did live product demonstrations using FSO attendees. Products are available at www.missjessies.com
2. I’M BOSSY
Local rapper Rasheeda was there looking cute as ever (check the pic) promoting her apparel and accessory shop and chatting it up with fans and attendees.
I got these super glam earrings I’ve had my eye on. Prices are reasonable and although she sold out fast all products are online at www.imbossy.com.
3. ROSE COUTURE
Rose Couture is a new shop located is Riverdale. They have really fab pieces and I snagged this cute wrap sweater. I love it because it’s versatile and can be worn alone as a sweater or over a cami as a jacket. Their website in a work in progress and will be available soon.
4. DASHAWN TAYLOR
DaShawn Taylor represented for the men at FSO. He appeared on BET’s Ultimate Hustler and wrote several books. He is very open and easy to talk to. He even gave me autographed copy of his book, “Power Moves.” I can’t wait to read it (I’ll do a book review soon)!! He has several other books recently released books including, “Kissed By The Devil.” You can learn about him and his publications from his website www.dashawntaylor.com.
BAD
1. GARB BOUTIQUE
While I am a fan of Toya Wright, I am a little disappointed that she only sold t-shirts at her FSO booth. Don’t get me wrong, the shirts were cute but I would like to see other apparel she has. I would also love for her to open a shop in Atlanta but that’s wishful thinking
. You can check out her store online at www.shopgarbboutique.com/
2. TAGS BOUTIQUE
Local celebrity Kandi owns Tags Boutique. Tags has plenty of fab clothing. I scored a sheer zip front blouse (not pictured). While I’m happy with the purchases I was disappointed that Kandi wasn’t there to meet and greet the fans. I also would like to see her promote her many projects including; her online show Kandi Koated Nights, intimate adult line Bedroom Kandi, and Apple app Kandi Spades. Regardless you can find her online at www.kandionline.com **SN – I heard that Kandi was at FSO meeting and greeting with fans**
3. HAIR BATTLE
Derek J attended, high heels and all. He’s a huge success since being seen on ‘Real Housewives of
Atlanta’ and his current position as a judge on ‘Hair Battle Spectacular‘. However, I can’t understand why hair battle occurred at FSO. There are several hair shows in Atlanta where I think hair battles are more suited for. Don’t get me wrong…his work is fab, just hair show and television fab. I would’ve preferred if the hair battle stage was smaller (or nonexistent) and replaced with a variety of local hair professionals giving consultations to attendees.
UGLY
1. ORGANIZATION – LACK THERE OF
This is my personal preference but…I would have preferred if the vendors were grouped by type. All clothing vendors in one area, all hair care in another….and so forth. I think it would really made it easy to find the vendors and it wouldn’t seem so sporadic.
2. FLEE MARKET FAKES
Truth be told some vendors were from the local flee market. Seriously, I could’ve bought a Pucci (instead of Gucci) or Frada (knock-off Prada) bag and been on my way. I understand that some people are into knock-off’s but there is a time and place. For Sisters Only is not the place for knock-offs. It’s for local business owners to share their original products and services. I’m just saying’.
OTHER STUFF…
Weave Shop did sew in’s and quick weaves for clients. While it’s not my thing I love how they highlighted and showed their skills. I’m sure they gained several new clients.
Bionic Swagg Make-up – Glittery eyes and lips are a bit much for me but, there is a market. It’s a bold way to make a statement. I prefer to see them selling their products instead of simply performing applications. I think they should offer a do-it-yourself kit for those who prefer to apply it at their leisure. You can see and book an appointment for BionicSwaggGlitter online at www.mybionicbeauty.com
No shortage of celebrities as there were performances on the main stage featuring Monica, Marsha Ambrosius, Tyrese, Diggy Simmons, Mindless Behavior, Kindred Family Soul, Jacob Lattimore, Miguel and more… There was even a panel with Frank Ski, Hill Harper and Tami Roman from Basketball Wives. Fun Times…
Until Next Year…FSO 2012

Wow, that’s crazy that they allow people to sell knockoff handbags at FSO. It’s pretty tacky.
I haven’t been to FSO in a minute, but I do remember yearsssss ago meeting TLC (all three members). I’ll never forget that.
